Rock music has come a long way since the 50's age of 'Rock n' Roll' and although it has been a label for rebellion and being a 'Rock Star' meant a short life for most, for a few it became legendary and their music will continue to be on or near the top shelves of archives for many years to come. Unfortunately many artists including some 'legends' met a premature fate while the genre was claiming it's roots, but this gave it a new respect and opened the door for aspiring new artists to maintain that fiery log of our world in love, hate, and war with sound..
Rock-and-Roll (räk'n roll') n. first so used (1951) by Alan Freed, Cleveland USA disc jockey, taken from the song "My Baby Rocks Me with a Steady Roll". The use of rock, roll, rock and roll, etc., with reference to sexual intercourse, is traditional in blues, a form of popular music that evolved in the 1950's from rhythm and blues.
Characterized by the use of electric guitars, a strong rhythm with an accent on the offbeat, and youth-oriented lyrics. A form of popular music arising from and incorporating a variety of musical styles, especially rhythm and blues, country music, and gospel. Originating in the United States in the 1950s, it is characterized by electronically amplified instrumentation, a heavily accented beat, and relatively simple phrase structure..
Whatever your taste in music, today Rock music is labeled with an honor in change, and whether you listen or not it stands on it's own as 'musical politics' that will be followed by our next generation and so on..
We can only hope that new musicians and song writers use this psychology to inspire our youth for the good.. Live for the sounds and Let's ROCK !!!
